Well I had actually wanted to write on this topic in the earlier blog, but lost the track somehow.

Consider this;

List all the persons you know in this world. Now, list all the persons who are known to each of the persons you listed. Continue this with 6 times.

Now after 6 times you would have spanned all the people in the entire world. This result was somehow arrived at through mathamatics and statistics; the details of which are not known to me and hunting for the same.

The above means that any random person on this earth is not far away from you by more than 6 persons. This is known as "The six degrees of seperation". (Got an a prelude about this from http://rishitjain.blogspot.com)

So to prove this statement google created a program that would show the connection path between any person to any person on the programe; which would not be more than 6.

Google released this program as orkut on the world web. That's what orkut was initially.
